Short Description / Glazy spiral staircase: Complete design set for construction and on site supervisor
Year / 2016
Location / Milan, Italy
Architect / Andrea Maffei

The new showroom of Florim company in Milan is enriched by a spiral staircase almost entirely made up of structural glass.  The structure serves as a connection between the ground floor and the underground showroom where precious and unique productions of ceramic tiles are on display. The company Int-Tech-Italia has been extremely skilled in doing this project.

The stair consists of two curved stringers in painted steel on which both the steps and the parapets are fixed. The treads are made with triple laminated glass with titanium inserts that allow the fastening to the stringer. The railings are made from double-layered glass and properly bent. The entire project was carried out in BIM parametric mode with production of all the components necessary for its realization. A 3D laser scan was also performed to acquire all the on-site geometry.
