Just beside the Tiburtina Station in Rome there is an area where people cut across to make their way for both the train and metro. People can now use this space to rest where they can stand or sit during their wait, under the shadow of this canopy.
The idea of creating a large shade beside the main entrance of Tiburtina station in Rome is a result of the user’s need of a rest area during the heat of summer in Rome. The large canopy consists of a number of aluminum tubular slats placed at the top of steel columns. They are reasonably tall and arranged randomly in order to allow free movement of people. Although the structural elements are all metal the different forms, depending on architectural and spatial requirements, create a very interesting space for users.
