This facade covers the main entrance of Pierantoni Hospital in Forlì. It is made by large glazing supported by glass columns more than ten meters high. Particular attention was given to the interfaces with existing structures, in particular the roof shows sensitive displacement under limit loading conditions.

Long glazing columns behind the facade are just preventing the tilting of the glazing. In fact in this project different structures other than the columns are supporting and preventing the tipping of the glazing facade. The glazings are stacked one on top of the other therefore their weight go directly to ground, while the glazing columns, placed at a certain distance from the facade, counteract the tilting action of the wind and the earthquake through thin connecting rods that hold the glass by points.
